Top Wedding Movies with Outdoor Wedding Scenes

Our two biggest joys in life are weddings and movies. We love when these two worlds collide. With the outdoor wedding season upon us, we are highlighting a few of our favorite outdoor weddings in movies!

#5 MY BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING

Let’s step back into 1997 when Julia Roberts stole our hearts as Jules in the box-office hit “My Best Friend’s Wedding”. While the ending wedding scene is a little bitter sweet, it makes our list of best outdoor wedding movies as it is packed with glitz, glamour, and an emotional gut punch. If you missed this classic rom-com, you can find it streaming on Netflix right now!

#4 27 DRESSES

The iconic beach wedding from 27 Dresses was a given when making our list of best outdoor movie weddings. This classic story of “always the bridesmaid, never the bride” gets a storybook happy ending when Jane & Kevin (the gorgeous Katherine Heigl and dreamy James Marsden) share their “I dos” right by the ocean. And who could forget, all 27 brides make a reappearance wearing the same eclectic dresses they made Jane wear at their own weddings.

#3 THE WEDDING SINGER

The three time on-screen lovers, Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler, made their debut rom-com together in 1998’s “The Wedding Singer”. This boy-meets-girl story stands above the rest, mainly due to the endearing chemistry between Robbie and Julia (Sandler & Barrymore). Not to mention, as wedding fans ourselves, we love any movie that highlights the fun and sometimes bizarre nature of the wedding industry. We challenge you to watch this movie without getting the Adam Sandler original song, “Grow Old With You" stuck on repeat in your head for the weeks to follow.

#2 MAMA MIA

The entire “Mama Mia” movie is a treat for your eyes (and soul) as it takes place in the beyond-beautiful islands of Greece. This musical turned movie centers around Sophie’s (Amanda Seyfried) wedding day as she tries to find her birth father in hopes he will walk her down the aisle. The movie concludes with the most breathtaking outdoor wedding imaginable - though the couple getting married might come as a surprise if you haven’t seen this one before.

#1 TWILIGHT BREAKING DAWN PART 1

When you marry into a family of eternal vampires, they go all out on the wedding. The jaw-dropping backyard wedding of Bella and Edward (Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson) had every teenage girl in the 2000s squealing with glee. It’s no surprise the original song written for Bella’s walk down the aisle, “A Thousand Years”, is still a favorite of brides getting married today.
